Podgórze

Podgórze was established in 18th century by the Austrians on the right bank of the Vistula river as a competing city against Krakow. It was joined to Krakow in 1915.
Podgórze is an incredible site, where the historical monuments coexist with the beauty spots and where in the neighbourhood of some idyllic landscapes are located the places connected with the most tragic period of the history of Krakow Jews.
During our tour we will visit the area of ghetto established for Jews by the Nazis in 1941 and Schindler`s Factory. We will also discover some magical places, where you will forget that you are in the centre of city. At the end we will see the beautiful panorama of Krakow from the top of Krak`s Mound.

On the way we will visit:

  • 1.The Heros of Ghetto Square.
  • 2.The Eagle`s Pharmacy - branch of Historical Museum of the City of Krakow.
  • 3.Schindler`s Factory at Lipowa Street.
  • 4.The part of ghetto walls at Lwowska Street.
  • 5.Podgórski Square with the parish church of St. Josef.
  • 6.Bednarski`s Park and villas at Lasoty Hill.
  • 7.Small St. Benedict church.
  • 8.The Benedict Fort.
  • 9.The old Podgórski Cementary.
  • 10.Krak`s Mound.
