WadowiceWadowice - the birthplace of the Polish Pope John Paul II (Karol Wojtyła) lies 50 km to the south-west of Krakow. Every year "the Papal City" is visited by the tourists and pilgrims from the whole world. Among the most interesting sites are the Family Home of John Paul II (museum), where He lived with His family, the Basilica of Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, where He was baptised, St. Peter`s church bulit as a gratitude for saving the Pope from the attempted assassination on 13th of May 1981.
