Zakopane
Zakopane is one of the most visited tourist sites in Poland. Called very often "the Winter Capital of Poland", it is a perfect place for the lovers of active winter leisure.
It is also the site, where you can feel a real, still vivid folklor of the Higlanders - their music, dances, language, art and architecture. Only here you will find unique buildings built in Zakopane Style, created at the end of 19th century by the artist S. Witkiewicz. Among the houses inspired by the folk art are the Chapel in Jaszczórówka, the Koliba Villa, the Tatra Museum and others.
The designer of the style, together with other famous people connected with Zakopane, is burried at amazing old cementary, where the tombs (designed often by the folk artists) are made mainly of wood.
The charm of the Tatra Mountains may be admired from Gubałówka Hill, where you will be taken by the funicular railway.
